The Victoria Napolitano Group is a fashion house and multimedia company that has been in operation for 20 years. Founder: Victoria Napolitano. Staff: 30 worldwide.
I opened a small writing studio in Carmel-by-the-Sea in California. Customers would often comment on how I should have my work seen everywhere. So I started advertising, and after spending over $50,000, I realized the best promoter for my company was me. I taught myself how to layout and create magazines. It took a solid two years of hard work and study. When I finally felt I understood the publishing business, I knew I would need a celebrity to draw attention to my new luxury magazine. I contacted Grammy award-winning musician, Kenny G, who was very popular at the time. He so graciously accepted my invitation for an exclusive interview. As luck would have it, Kenny G rarely gives interviews. I did not realize until later that I was one of the chosen few.
Kenny G gave me a dynamic interview in which he shared with me that he kept his eyes closed during performances because he was shy and looking out at the audience intimidated him. The biggest shocker came at the end when Kenny G laughed and said, This will get you noticed”. It had not been disclosed at the time; however, Kenny G was the investor for a startup coffee company. Howard Schultz asked for $50,000 dollars to buy a new company, Starbucks. Kenny G agreed to invest if he received 5% of all coffee sales. I sold out of magazines in one week. The rest is history.
When I design something, I have to market it. When I was new in the business, I was taken advantage of and my money taken by companies who did not care if I succeeded or not. I was a number and they were there only to get paid. They would create cookie cutter advertising for me and as you can see my business is niche, so it takes strategy and unique ideas to market it. It takes time to figure out the best avenue to take regarding marketing and advertising for companies like mine.
I continued to market my own company, products and services. I have extended out to help other companies. I have designed for some of the most iconic brands, however I have to sign a NDA (Non-disclosure Agreement) so I cannot list the companies in my portfolio. I encourage people to enter my name – Victoria Napolitano, into a Google search and see the results.
Photography:
In the beginning, I needed images to show my work. So, I had to learn lighting effects, outside versus inside for dramatic and soft approaches to my designs. There is a lot of work behind the scenes to capture great photography.
Film:
I wanted to create romantic, short stories with my haute couture. Once I started, I fell in love with creating films. I generally create films without dialogue; therefore, anyone can watch and understand.
Music:
Most people ignore the copyrights of artists, especially singers. I wanted music for my films and understood copyrights expire. For example, if I create a film that becomes popular and the copyright to the song expires, the owner of the music can increase the price or not extend the copyright which would lead to me taking the film down and/or replacing the music. To maintain full control, I decided to write my own my music. It’s cleaner, easier and you don’t get caught up in copyright lawsuits. It wasn’t easy. I am a writer and poet which helped a little, but writing music was out of my comfort zone. It took almost a year to learn the basics of music. I am by no means an expert, but I get the job done.
My main focus is ALL of them. I actually need each division. If you look close enough, they all work together cohesively. I need commercials, music and marketing after creating my designs. My main goal is to be known worldwide for my designs and my unorthodox and unique presentation.
I love makeup and always have. I went on to become a certified makeup artist. It took 5 years to partner with professionals to help create organic cosmetics with high standards. We cover every skin tone with vibrant colors for eyes and lips. We have a 14 piece make up kit I highly suggest. It has everything you need to create your look from daytime to dramatic nighttime. Helping women feel powerfully beautiful has been my focus all along. Makeup can be intimidating for some women and we are here to help.
When choosing cosmetics with us, we strongly suggest starting with a consultation. We have so many colors and choices, it will be easier with a consultation as not to overwhelm our clients. With so many choices available, we will help you narrow it down to make it easier to choose. Our best seller is, French Riviera Red. I wear it every day!
Since I was a teenager, I have taken skincare seriously. I am always asked if I use Botox. No, I do not. Just like people who are gym rats, I am dedicated to keeping my skin healthy. Even before we were warned about skin damage, I would limit my time in the sun. It seemed to me it would damage the layers of the skin and I was right. A close friend in high school laid out with baby oil to tan faster. This was before sun warnings. She had deep wrinkles by the time she was 21 years old.
My company creates organic skincare and I use it every day. I do not sell anything I do not use myself. There are very expensive skincare products you can use. Just be aware there are companies that mask the problem and when you are not using the product your skin returns to its original state. Or companies, like mine that create skincare to help your skin to be healthy. Understand, there is nothing short of a face lift that works overnight. It takes time and consistency to rejuvenate neglected skin.
Of course. I have an amazing staff of writers, editors, designers, video producers and more. We can do most things associated with multimedia and if we don’t do it, we will find a company that does what is best for you. Regardless, our utmost focus is your success!
An annual fashion show, a Castle boutique in Europe created to be a destination adventure. That’s all I will say for now. I will be continuing to operate worldwide and teaching companies how they can expand their marketing without spending their hard-earned revenue with companies that claim they support them when they don’t care about the outcome, just the income.
